"I was a teacher at Chiba Language school for over a year. It was my first experience in an Asian country and I was a bit scared at first being so far from home in a place I didn’t know much about. The school was a second family to me, teaching me so much and helping me with anything I needed also outside the school environment. They really do care about their teachers and the kids’ education is their top priority.
The effort the school puts into providing the best education for their children is visible all around the school: all kinds of teaching materials are present everywhere. The kids are amazing, always excited and interested in everything they do. It can be challenging and you really need to be committed to the job.
I will always feel blessed to have met wonderful colleagues, I learnt so much from each one of them. Working with Taiwanese, Japanese and American teachers is what made this experience so special. But what really made this year unforgettable is the relationship I built with the kids and the progress I have seen them make throughout the year.
I am happy I chose a smaller city, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in Taiwanese culture, interacting with local people and being invited to their homes. The food is delicious and cheap especially in the south of Taiwan, not many people speak English but in true Taiwanese fashion they always tried their best to assist me (using Google translate or body language). I can strongly affirm Taiwanese are the friendliest people I’ve met so far.
This whole experience will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am sure I’ll come back."
